A collection of Point of Interest (POI) Coordinates for your handheld our auto/car GPS in Houston and surrounding areas ONLY.
A fascinating utility on most GPS devices - you can add more Points of Interest collections - for example my GPS did not have Starbucks in the existing POI, so I found a list of all the Starbucks in the USA and I added it to my GPS's POI collection. Now I can find the nearest Starbucks no matter where I am. YAY!
If you dont travel outside of TX much and want to keep the file size of your POIs down (to search faster) then just use POIs for TX or Houston instead of the whole USA. These POI lists are all in .csv format. That is what works with my GPS and many others. If your GPS takes a different format there is a converter for nearly every type these days, but it's up to you to Google and find how to do that. Just type in your GPS model and maker and the words POI convert or upload.

c230 - so I can guide you some if you have a MIO also (a great device by
the way!), for instructions on how to add these Houston area POI collections
to your MIO using
the POI Loader application go here. You have to create an account to get
into the good stuff. Note that newer MIO models have a Description field for
POIs, so most of these csv files do too. Be sure to read the instructions for
lots of good tips on how to use the POI

Factory - its got a lot of POI lists, but you have to register to use it,
and some lists even require paying a fee.
My POI collection is always free and doesn't require registration.

Lakes, Streams - coords, names - for a large area around Houston
the parks list includes many types of recreation locations including things
like Aerodrome Ice Skating, Skate Parks, Softball fields etc, very nice list.
