This discomfort
is often due to simple sinus swelling, allergies,
flying, ear infections or even swimmers ear. It is simply a swollen
eustachian tube that is keeping fluid from draining properly.
That is why I am posting
this - I will tell you - without asking you to buy
anything from me - How to do it at home, instead of getting your ear drum
lanced at the Dr. which does work but is expensive,
and with out candling your ear, which does not work
by the way!
(testing
has proven it is a fake gimic and even dangerous!)
It
costs less than $10 at your local drug store for
the supplies for this unusual blocked ear solution.
Would you rather get poked in the eye with a sharp stick than go on suffering with hearing loss and discomfort for one more minute?
This solution can help you.If you link to my awesome solution please give me credit - mention tcady.com if you quote me.
And go to this discussion on WIKIHOW that I posted the clogged ear remedy - Go post a comment if you try this and it works for you to support the remedy.

Lost
or Reduced HearingIn the last few years I started getting a clogged ear due to sinus infections. At first I did not realize it was from sinuses. And you may not think your ear clogging is sinus related either, but I would bet that it IS. You do not even have to have had a stuffy nose or cough or cold recently - the clogged ear can come along, or can linger long after a cold that is gone - mine stayed around for 3 months after my sinus flare up!!
Some symptoms include: When you lay down or even tilt your head, the ears feel swishing inside, or like they are getting "popped" and you may even possibly hear clearly breifly. This is because the fluid clogged in your eustachian tube settles at a different angle when you lie down although it does not drain out due to the swelling. It is like laying a coke bottle on its side and the air bubble is in a different place inside the bottle. or using a level device, the air bubble moves around.
Another symptom: When I yawn or open my mouth wide, I feel a pop, or a little mucus drains down my throat, or I can hear again briefly.
Another symptom:
If you massage or press behind an/or under your ear you can feel some drainage
in your throat and may even get temporary relief from the blocked ear. But it
doesn't last.
This is exactly what I experienced, if you have these symptoms, then this solution
I am going to describe will work for you.
Here is a very lengthy forum discussion about this ear clogging problem.
Quote from it: "...I can't be in a windy place for more than 45 minutes or so without coming away with a brand-new ear infection.I think there is some debate as to whether or not ear infections are caused by virus or by bacteria. The end result is that the inner ear canal becomes inflamed. When the inflammation goes down the tissue contracts, causing a vacuum. The vacuum draws out liquid from the surrounding tissue into the inner ear. This alone is probably enough to cause hearing problems, but I guess the warm liquid also provides a nice place for bacteria and viruses to multiply, too, paving the way for more ear infections. "
Wow, interesting concept, and sounds about right for what I experienced....you too?
I know how to relieve it.

Every time my allergies act up, if my nose gets really stuffy, my right ear canal will clog up too and reduce my hearing on that side (often called Otitis Media). The first time it happened the clogged ear continued long after the sinus attack got better. It was very uncomfortable.
I didn't realize
it was from sinuses then, I thought I had something stuck in my ear canal, maybe
just wax,
so from the outside I poured in alcohol, peroxide, and de-waxing cures, and
stuck in Qtips over and over, and never got any relief. I blew on it with a
blow dryer (as told on the web!), you name it, if it was suggested online, I
tried it. But nothing worked. (I never did try ear
candles as I found they are a hoax)
After I suffered like this - with poor hearing and uncomfortable pressure in my head, feeling like I was under water all the time, for over 3 months; finally I ended up going to an Ear Nose & Throat Dr to try to find out what was wrong. He said I had had an ear infection and I should have my ear drum lanced to relieve the pressure and it worked right away. It was only lightly painful when the Dr lanced the eardrum. Then my ear drained yellow gunk (like infection puss) for two weeks! Yuck! Then the puncture healed and I was fine, for a while...
The next time I got a sinus attack my ear clogged up again. This time the clogged (plugged ) ear feeling went away on its own within 2 weeks.
I had a few more times where I thought I would have to go get relief from an ENT again and then it would clear up on it's own before my appointment. Which was fine with me because my insurance sucks and I have to pay $70 for Dr appointments! And that does not count additional charges for special services.
I even wondered if I could lance my own ear drum to avoid going to the Dr. but I worried about infection so I never did it. But by now I knew it was occurring every time I got a sinus flare up with very stuffy nose and usually a sore face in that area too, so I knew it was due to and related to the sinuses.
I always use nasal spray when I get an allergy attack but try not to use it so much my nose gets 'addicted', just for a few days. I try to mostly get by using just sudafed or Claratin D. Commonly this can actually solve the problem, see that instruction here:(from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eustachian_Tube)
THE REAL SIMPLE SAFE SOLUTION
Then this week I have had such a stuffed up nose and facial soreness and pressure - and I simply could not breath thru my nose at all especially when I sleep. I had been using the nasal spray for a week. My ear was clogged bad. I use 4-Way Nasal Spray- an over the counter remedy which always works but for a short time. But this time it only worked for a VERY short time and my nose would clog back up, and sudafed or Claratin D or Tylenol Severe Cold and Flu did not even put a dent in the pressure and stuffiness. I knew I had a sinus infection cause my nasal mucus was yellowish green in the mornings. I took some Amoxicillin I had in my medicine cabinet for a week and it wouldn't go away.
I started irrigating my sinuses with a netti pot to try to clean them with out using nasal spray but on the few times it did get all the gunk out of my nose it only lasted 20 minutes. And it never cleared my ear, but I did start to notice that when using the neti pot, if I pinched my nose close and tipped my head around in all directions to kinda swish the saline around in my sinuses, I would feel it in my ear canal a little. Then I knew I was possibly going to be able to clear out my ear canal this way but try as I might, with hot water, salt saline, nothing cleared my ear out.
But then I got the idea to put a little nasal spray medicine in the neti pot and wash with that, just maybe it would relieve the pressure and swelling that was likely WAY back in my inner ear canal....I was desperate!
I didn't use much, like a few drops of nasal spray with 1/2 cup warm water, and I rinsed my sinuses with it. I pinched my nose shut, and tipped my head too a fro and back and forth and tipped it all around, with the solution inside my sinuses, to get it in all the corners and canals, (it helps to look at pictures of sinus cavities to see where they are and understand how it helps to tilt your head around the way i did)

The clogging occurs from swelling in the EUSTACHIAN TUBE which then retains mucus - this solution fixes it!
And as soon as I let the solution out and started blowing my nose, then I did the valsava meneuver, like you blow into your ears with your nose held shut to pressurize your eardrums when flying or scuba diving, and then suddenly my ear canal popped lightly and I blew out green gunk for 20 minutes and I could feel and hear air going in my ear canal finally - and green mucus - much darker than normal, came out till it was all gone and my ear was clear and unclogged! And it has not come back 2 days later so far. Though my nose is still stuffy, my ear is not clogged!

SPECIAL NOTES:
For anyone who gets solution stuck in your ear, you probably stood up and expelled
solution too fast after getting it into your deep inner ear tubes. You need
to keep rotating your head and tiping over and back, till it comes out. Imagine
how your ear canals go up and down, and you need to think about how to let the
water drain, visualize it. Try leaning down to touch your knees, then tip your
head to both sides while down there, and then slowly roll your head around to
your side and back up to standing, then lean back as far as you can and look
at the sky (or farther back even), then tip your head side to side *slowly*,
you should be able to get all the water to drain this way. If it got in, it
will come out! Anothe rthing you can try if you cannot bend over and touch your
knees, is lie on the bed face down near the edge and let your head hang over
the edge of the bed so the crown of your head is facing the floor. Not everyones
eustachian tube can drain out while standing strait up especially if it is swollen.
Hope this works for you!
A WikiHow Reader Said: "I saw the neti pot that was recommended on oprah about a year ago and tried it but never this way and although I always thought I had some sort of sinus issues--the doctors always told me it was an ear infection/swimmers ear. I would use the ear drops prescribed by the Dr but later I would get the clogged tube--and I could tell by rubbing my right side of my neck and would feel soreness and a little drainage.....I tried this method and although it felt like I was going to drown while holding my breath--I FELT INSTANT RELIEF. I do believe I have a little more clogging than normal as I did it a few times and waited and still feeling little by little the breaking up of the mucas. I will try more tomorrow but I feel much better now. I never thought about using nasal spray for my ears--Thanks for your help." Another WikiHow Reader: "I can not believe it!!! suffering from allergy/sinus issues, I frequently have VERY painful clogged eustachian tubes. THIS WORKED!" And
another: "This definitly works.!!!
keep the page up. i was out in the rain and think i may have caught a
bug. The next day i was on a plane to florida. While the plane was decending,
i felt some unbearable pain in my ears.when i got off, my left ear never
popped, and i couldnt hear. Long story short, i searched the interenet
and spent more money than i should have by trying all the other remedies.
I bought the netipot and the four way spray, followed this guide, and
no BS, some yellow fluid came out and my hearing was much better than
it was. So i did it again 10 minutes later, and i cleared the rest out." |

Read more about Wiki How Ear problems! (This is actually how NOT to solve this very irritating problem- many people try going from the outside, but that only helps when it is ear wax!)
NOTE: I did feel a tiny prick of pain when I tipped my head around and saline went in my ear canals, but not enough to stop, and it does not do any damage. I think it was water touching my ear drum and it was not severe, like getting a shot is all. So don't be alarmed if you feel a tiny prick of pain when you do this. You ear canals are not used to feeling anything like this in them. And it will drain right out just like normal bodily fluid does.
Here is a recommendation form a real Dr on how to do a similar method with nasal spray - directing it towards the ear, so you can see it is safe:
Correct Use of Nasal Sprays for Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, by Fauquier ENT Consultants
AND this method can actually work in a pinch by itself, or when ear clogging
first starts, before it gets bad.
And neti pots are a very
good way to just clean your sinuses if you don't like to use medicated nasal
sprays.
Or just irrigate your nose daily or weekly for that clean fresh feeling!
Be sure to have a box of kleenex nearby - you will need them to blow your nose
ALOT after irrigating the sinuses.
About the Neti Pot
The Neti Pot is one of the most popular new methods of personal hygiene and health improvement available today.
This simple tool for nasal irrigation, coming from the ancient tradition of Yoga and Ayurveda, is a great way to counter nasal congestion, sinus allergies, headaches and many other health problems that can otherwise be difficult to treat. By enabling you to breathe better, it can give you more energy that can literally transform your life.
The neti pot is inexpensive, easy to use and helpful for everyone. Once you try it and experience its benefits, it will quickly become a regular part of your daily self-care routine.
Also, once your ear clears, you are likely to have ALOT of the dark yellow nasal infection mucus coming out over the next few days, so plan on blowing your nose ALOT!
Here is a
video by someone else about how to use a neti pot -
I will be adding my own video very soon showing how to do my remedy!

ANOTHER NOTE:
There are questions about when and how to hold your breath while you
do this. I am making a video to help show how, but you take a deep
breath and hold using your throat/vocal chords first, then stick your tongue
into the back of your throat to clog your nasal draining passages there, so
the solution can not run down your throat, and tip your head back and pour the
neti pot solution in your nose now, then plug your nose and do the tipping over
exercises - but do them rather slowly, not too fast, then lean over the sink
and exhale and breath normally, and then blow your nose some, to expel all the
solution. Then equalize the pressure in your ears a few times to help press
the solution deep into your eustachian tubes if needed, and this can also help
drian the liquid if it seems stuck there.
You may need to at this point do some more tipping over exercises to get all
the solution or mucous out too.
The ear canals are like a roller coaster going uphill and down hill so you might
have to work to get the fuid out once the solution breaks it up to a state that
can even be drained.
Hope this has helped you! I searched google far and wide for a home solution to this problem and now that I found one I am posting it so you all can have the same safe simple home relief from a clogged ear canal due to sinus and allergy infections. There is a cure and I just wanted to share it with you!
GOOD
LUCK TO YOU!

And an update- today is August 20, 2008 - and in April 2008 a few months after I wrote this page - I stopped smoking. I have not had another bad sinus flare up for 5 months- since quitting! Then this week I did get a cold and some sinus swelling at night, but it has never effected my ear again like it did the time described in the horror story above. And now I fully believe that stopping smoking was the best thing I could do for my sinus and ear issues. If you smoke, you should consider taking Chantix, and quit smoking easily, like I did! It's really a miracle stop smoking pill. Ask your Dr about it. And follow the online program to help you Get Quit, and Stay Quit! I did, and it was EASY - and I feel SO healthy since quitting, it is amazing!Second update: Sept 28, 2008: I spoke too soon. I still am a non smoker, but I have begun having clogged ears again! It is that time of year. I usually always get sinus flare ups around October. If I use this remedy right away, as soon as I feel my ear clogging, it never gets bad. Sometimes I do have to do this a few times a week. It is ok to repeat as often as necessary. I have found another quicker easier solution that can work if you do it as soon as you eustachian tube starts to get swollen - get the prescription Nasonex from your Dr, it is a steroidal anti inflammatory nasal spray, then follow these directions to get it to your euastachain tube:
Correct Use of Nasal Sprays for Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (do the valsalva maneuver afterwards too)This web page is about my own discovery: A MIRACLE Clogged Ear, Ear pressure relief, home remedy and self cure, for sinus nasal pressure or swelling in the ears - and hearing loss - from sinusitis and allergies- that I discovered how to do at home, instead of getting your ear drum lanced at the Dr.
